Estimating Engineer



Job Description

We are looking to expand our estimating team!

This is a great opportunity to round out quoting & estimating experience by being involved in quoting for multiple manufacturing processes: CNC , Sheet Metal Fabrication, Stamping, or Tool & Die . Willing to train individuals with estimating background from other industries or engineering experience.

Specific/Primary Responsibilities:
• Daily communication with potential/current clients, vendors, sales department, design, and department managers
• Proactive communication with Sales Team & Sales Manager to determine team priorities
• Review customer RFQ's for CNC, Tool & Die, Stamping, or Sheet Metal Fabrication projects
• Review RFQ for requirements, lead time, & associated blueprints/solid models for manufacturability & evaluate customer requirements
• Assist in team developing quote packages & reviewing individual, or quote packages based on Customer and/or project size
• Review teams recent & historical quotes, for profitability, & department feedback on fit for manufacturing
• Assist team in developing quoting processes to improve accuracy or speed of process
• Assist customer in determining potential modifications to part configurations for manufacturability, part value, & value add for the customers
• Send out quotes for subcontracting processes, prepare all time, cost, material, and labor estimates to develop/deliver accurate quote packages
• Develop accurate routings & work orders specific to the required manufacturing processes for production employees
• Proactive customer communication for design/revision changes and solution focused discussions
• Review/compare purchase orders to quote packages for accuracy/completeness
• Track & maintain updated references for vendor costs including materials and subcontracting processes
• Daily tracking, reporting, & follow up on quote submissions with management and customers

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience quoting/estimating in a manufacturing environment preferred, but estimating experience from other industries will also be considered
• Individuals with any prior experience working on the floor in a metals manufacturing environment is a plus
• Able to read/interpret machining/fabrication blueprints or desire to learn
