Seasonal Gardens Worker

Help us redefine what is possible and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with Autism! Bittersweet, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides residential, vocational, and recreational services to individuals with autism.

We are seeking a part time seasonal gardens worker responsible for supporting the Vocational Gardens Program with weeding, planting, watering, harvesting and related crop and greenhouse care.

Some Responsibilities include:

  • Perform duties such as mixing soil, amending beds, cultivating, planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting farm crops on assigned green houses, hoop houses and fields as required
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining greenhouse and horticulture areas
  • Assist in the planting and harvesting of all available farm land to support the production plans to produce crops, vegetables, and various other products for market.
  • Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possess and uses empathy in all actions and interactions
  • Effectively work in teams with co-workers and participants
  • Ability to express patience in difficult situations
  • Exceptional and adaptable oral communication
  • High School Diploma or GED

Must be able to lift and participate in physical tasks. Must be flexible and be able to bend, crouch, kneel, reach up, lift, walk and stand for long periods of time. Knowledge of horticulture and gardening practices preferred.

This is an entry level position from May through October. Hours are flexible, ideally 10AM-4PM or 11AM-5PM. Some weekend work is required.

Pay: $15.00 per HOUR
