Packing Lead



Job Description
Location: Fairfield, OH
Travel: None
Work Hours: First Shift - 6:30am to 2:45pm
Second Shift - 2:30pm to 10:45pm
Third Shift - 10:30pm to 6:45am

Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Summary: Responsibilities include but are not limited to training new packers and ensuring that quality defects are immediately reported to operators or supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Packs products into box with accurate counts.
• Constantly monitor quality of the product being packed and report any problems to the operator or supervisor.
• Oversee and conduct training of new packers.
• Check the labels on the cartons for accuracy.
• Stack, tape, label, pack or whatever else may be necessary to assure top efficiency on the production line.
• Keep the production area clean.
• Maintain time and production records
• Keep accurate counts of all finished product in conjunction with the operator.
• Make sure the cartons are properly stacked.
• Keep tape machine in working order and report any mechanical problems to supervisor or maintenance department.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the packing box area.
• Develop a clear understanding of all types of raw materials.
• Will abide by all AIB standards and HPPI quality and safety regulations
1. Wear proper hair restraints (Head and beard)
2. Wash hands after using the restroom and eating or whenever hands become soiled
3. Report all injures and treat all cuts, scrapes, open sore immediately and appropriately (follow bloodborne pathogen policy)
4. No jewelry (ear rings, rings with stones, loose necklaces)
5. No cell phones or pagers (unless authorized)
6. No personal items on the production floor
7. No food of any kind except in authorized areas
8. No tobacco products except in authorized areas

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and training of packers. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Desired Skills & Experience A high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise in the work environment is usually loud.

Safety: Performs all job duties within established safety guidelines.

Honeymoon Paper Products has been a quality manufacturer of corrugated and folding carton packaging, primarily for food service customers, since 1960.

Today, Honeymoon Paper Products employs almost 150 employees in two locations. Our company headquarters location in Fairfield, Ohio produces primarily corrugated packaging and our South Carolina plant produces primarily folding carton packaging.

Our products include pizza boxes, food trays, food take-home boxes, deli and bakery packaging.
