The Controller provides leadership and oversight in financial affairs to our very diverse non-profit agency and is located at the historic Presbyterian Homes Campus in Lynchburg, Virginia. We are seeking an innovative individual with empathetic interpersonal skills that builds mutual trust and respect among all levels of staff, including the Leadership Team, the Board of Directors as well as the external community. S/he will champion process improvement, exhibit a values-driven demeanor and be of high integrity.
The position demands a highly organized team player with great people skills and will include managing day to day accounting operations as well as supervising accounting staff, financial reporting, bank reconciliation, endowment management, bequest valuation, I.R.S. compliance, contract/grant compliance, financial evaluation of programs, cost reporting, internal auditing, budgets, and assisting with capital budgeting.

Minimum qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • Active CPA license or the ability to obtain in near term • Experience as a Controller or in public accounting • Experience with accounting software packages • Knowledgeable about public and private funding and managed care systems • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record • Complete all required background checks including drug testing
Preferred attributes: • Experience with Blackbaud FE and RE • Experience with ADP or other third-party payroll systems • Experience in non-profit accounting
