JOB SUMMARY: The Direct Support Professional-Awake Overnight assists the Program Manager, Direct Support Professional II and Direct Support Professional in having responsibility for the residents, performing everyday tasks with regard to residential care, creating a loving atmosphere; sharing significant information in understanding the resident and his/her family; helping to identify specific areas to be covered within the plan of care. This position is supervised by the Program Manager.
The primary function of this position is to provide supervision to the residents during overnight hours and during morning routines. The Direct Support Professional-Awake Overnight is expected to provide assistance to the residents during the overnight hours for routine and emergency care. The Direct Support Professional-Awake Overnight is responsible to engage residents in morning routines, provide supportive counseling, be aware of medical needs, monitor medications, teach activities of daily living skills and food preparation. The major area of emphasis is during the overnight hours when residents are in need of assistance and emergency care. During overnight hours, the Direct Support Professional-Awake Overnight will perform heavy duty cleaning tasks and paperwork as assigned. The Direct Support Professional-Awake Overnight works under the direction of the Program Manager to provide increased individualized training and support of the residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Attend and pass the 32 hour Medication Aide Training course and maintain yearly competence requirements • Provide direct services to resident to accomplish individual service plan goals and objectives. • Maintain daily log in the absence of the Program Manager. • Plan and implement leisure time activities for residents. • Provide training to residents on daily living skills. • Provide transportation as needed and scheduled. • Ensure building and grounds are kept clean and maintained. • Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling as needed. • Act as positive role model for residents. • Provide emotional support and set limits when appropriate. • Communicate with Program Manager any concerns about program of residents in care. • Provide support and encouragement for culturally related life practices and experiences for the resident in care and the family receiving services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduation from high school or equivalent. • Some experience working with persons who have intellectual disabilities or in a related human services field preferred. • Consent to TB assessment and/or test. • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record. • Complete all required background checks. • Successfully pass drug test • Must be 21+ years of age
