Job Description As a Therapist for the Idaho Youth Ranch you will primarily be responsible for the therapeutic and clinical components of the program. You will conduct diagnostic assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling to clients within the identified model of service delivery for the program/site. This particular posting requires comfort and willingness to work outdoors and around horses. The primary work location for this position will be in Caldwell, Idaho.
Responsibilities • Responsible to provide direct services to clients on assigned caseload (i.e. assessments, counseling, planning, etc.) in experiential setting • Maintains active licensure to practice • Practices in accordance with provisions of license • Prepares Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessments, Individualized Treatment Plans, updates and reviews progress notes, discharge planning and other documentation as outlined • Formulates and implements treatment strategies for each client • Advocates for and supports all program/site employees adherence to the identified program model • Formulates and participates in the development and implementation of transition plans for each client and client-family • Ensures that treatment integrity is addressed and improved through monitoring, tracking and systematic supervision • Works with team members to manage the upkeep of facility, equipment and other assets • Works as a mentor to newer team members and interns • Directs and provides crisis intervention services as needed • Actively participates in Team meetings • Actively participates in scheduled meetings and trainings • Other duties as assigned
Must Haves • Master’s degree (or higher) in a human services field (e.g., social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy) is required. • Licensure associated with the degree. • Two years experience providing counseling and/or crisis intervention services to families and adolescents (preferred) • Two years experience providing equine assisted therapy (preferred) • May require training and certification in specific therapeutic model (ie EAGALA certification for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy delivery) within specified timeframe as dictated by agency. • Some experience working in a clinical, residential or home-based program (preferred) • Good computer skills • Some experience in program creation, development and evaluation preferred • Must hold current certifications in first aid, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), physical/non-physical crisis intervention, or complete the requirements for certification within 90 days of hire • Must have a valid Idaho’s driver’s license or obtain one within 15 days of hire, as a condition of continued employment • Must be at least 25 years of age
Physical Requirements • Schedule is dependent on the needs and availability of the client. Work schedule may include late afternoon/evening/weekends times. Must be able to respond to crises at any time of the day or night during on-call rotation. • May be required to attend an occasional organizational meeting or training sessions that requires overnight travel and that may last for several days • May be required to provide clinical assessments in other IYR facilities • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment, some work may be in a residential facility • Incumbent may be required to work outdoors even in inclement weather • On-call requirements exist for evenings and weekends in rotation with clinical team. On-call may occasionally require incumbent to respond in person to various program needs.
