Construction Cost Estimator



Job Description
This position will involve: 1. Developing conceptual cost plans from minimal design information utilizing an analytical process 2. Soliciting and selecting subcontractors 3. Preparing final estimates 4. Reviewing contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and cost allowances for scope changes Job Responsibilities This position will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical, plumbing and HVAC estimating for a wide range of mechanical infrastructure projects. Your specific dutieswill include: 1. Providing conceptual estimating 2. Making stakeholder presentations for estimates, reconciling documents and negotiating change orders 3. Engaging in hard bid estimating 4. Ensuring quality control of department bids and estimates 5. Overseeing all bid day activities and post-bid activities 6. Performing all negotiation duties in an assertive but also fair and reasonable manner Requirements This position must display a self-starter attitude with proven results-oriented focus. You must also have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with strong presentation and negotiation skills. Specific qualifications include: 1. 1 to 3 years construction related discipline aOR equivalent industry experience 2. Minimum 1 year of general estimating and negotiation experience directly related to both engineering and/or construction projects 3. Proficiency with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources. 4. Proficiency with estimating software. 5. Demonstrated experience with all MEP elements (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) is strongly preferred; biased for mechanical is acceptable
