Cost Estimation Analyst



Job Description
This position will be responsible for leading and sponsoring the preparation of accurate and timely estimates and project bids from start to finish, performing construction plan take offs, attending pre-bid meetings, securing and comparing competitive prices from vendors and subcontractors, visiting jobsites to determine field conditions relating to project bids, submitting completed bid packages to clients and working closely with estimating staff members. Additional Responsibilities Assign and monitor the activities of other estimators when necessary and act as mentor Review plans and specifications Process contracts, bonds and insurance certificates Ensure thorough and accurate take-off Contact subcontractors, suppliers, specialty services and truckers for quotes Develop thorough, timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents Perform additional assignments as needed Minimum Requirements Candidates should possess a minimum of 1 - 3 years experience in developing estimates Strong math and computer skills are a must, as is proficiency with bid estimating software and spreadsheets Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues. Demonstrated decision making skills Ability to work in high production environment with the experience to work independently to develop and implement creative conceptualized plans with a high degree of success Willingness and ability to think "outside of the box" on complex projects Proven ability and willingness to lead and/or mentor junior estimators Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Accuracy at all times
