Industrial Environmental Officer



Job Description
Job Description: Responsible for assisting with the administration and management of occupational health programs that fall within the industrial hygiene discipline. Duties include: identifying workplace hazards; providing direction on compliance with OSHA standards; assisting with establishing and maintaining safety and health programs and management systems; reviewing the effectiveness of industrial hygiene compliance programs; identifying potential hazards and feasible means of abatement; providing technical clarification of standards and explanations of procedures and directives; assisting management and supervision with the recognition and abatement of hazards; participating in regularly scheduled workplace inspections; maintaining databases for training and exposure measurement data; travelling to offsite facilities and conferences/training sessions as required. Experience: • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene, toxicology, and occupational health standards. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated training skills. • Ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors, and employees under stressful conditions. • Proficient with computer applications including MS Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Demonstrated ability with working in a team setting. Required Education: • Appropriate degree/training/certification in environmental, health, and safety science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experince required. Additional Requirements: Position is based on first shift, but will be required to conduct work on second and third shifts on a regular basis. Offsite travel will also be required on a weekly basis.
