Job Description Job Summary Under limited supervision, this person is responsible for placing individuals in the most appropriate employment setting and for assisting him/her on a daily basis. This position includes work hours on Saturdays and Sundays. This position serves Guilford County and is community-based.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in sales, customer service, marketing preferred.
Other Skills and Requirements Must be certified in CPR/First Aid. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and approved automobile insurance are required for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Ensure individuals are referred to and have completed the Single Portal Process.
Marketing to perspective employers in order to obtain job placements for individuals with disabilities.
Responsible for an average of 12 job placements per fiscal year.
Participate in and provide input into individual’s IHP/IPP (Individual Habilitation Plan/Individual Program Plan).
Assist in selecting potential individuals through screening and assessment procedures.
Oversee and direct the activities of individuals while performing job duties.
Assign, review and plan work for individuals, ensuring that they are placed in the most appropriate and least restrictive job for their individual needs and interest.
Work as liaison between the employer and employee to ensure needs are met.
Provide support for individuals in a variety of ways such as assessment, job development, training, technical assistance, monitoring safety conditions, providing transportation and follow-along support.
Establish and maintain good relationships with various individuals and agencies including area supervisors, referring agencies, VR counselors, parents/guardians, case workers, employers, etc.
Perform administrative duties as assigned.
Encourage the use of natural supports at the work site.
Maintain individuals’ confidentiality at all times.
Be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
