The Alaska State Ferries stop in Petersburg regularly in the summer, less frequently the rest of the year. The predominant sector of our economy is fishing and fish processing. Government is the second sector with a US Forest Service Supervisor's office and Ranger District office, as well as a two vessel Coast Guard Station.
