Peer Support Specialist (Rio Grande City, TX or Zapata, TX)

Peer Support Specialist Position Available

1 Part-time (24 hours per week) Peer Support Specialist:
South Texas Prevention Navigator Program in Starr/Zapata Counties

Duties: Assist Prevention Specialists in providing evidence-based substance abuse, HIV, and hepatitis C prevention services to adolescents and young adults including outreach, drug prevention education sessions, and case management services.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, criminal justice, or related behavioral science field is preferred.
• A person in recovery from mood altering substances that can demonstrate at least 6 months sobriety is preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of work experience providing social services to adolescents and/or adults is preferred.
• Must be fluently bilingual (English/Spanish); have a valid TX driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance; and be able to work flexible hours.

Salary is $9.00 per hour.
