Job Description Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Production Planner develops the complete master scheduling for manufacturing activities, ensuring the meeting of customer on-time requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
• Develop the complete master schedule for the specified facility, ensuring the meeting of customer on-time delivery requirements within scheduling procedures. • Ensure all schedules are up-to-date, making any changes required and communicating those changes to all affected departments. • Analyze and resolve scheduling issues that would cause production delays. • Work with production leads to streamline the order jobs are run to ensure maximum efficiencies. • Produce and distribute Work Orders for all production personnel. Ensure all supporting (linked) documents are correct and related to the Work Order. • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure timely material availability and anticipate delays. • Organize and implement production work timelines and goals to ensure customer fulfillment and facility capability. • Make recommendations to the departments as to scheduling activities and their effects. • Communicate with Sales and marketing regarding delivery dates outside of published lead times. • Work with sales and purchasing to accommodate expedites in the schedule as needed. • Inform Estimating of any router changes that need to be made to accurately reflect current process steps, labor, and material requirements before releasing Work Orders to the shop. • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, including production start-ups. • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc. • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. • Support the ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ERP experience a must, Global Shop experience a plus. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and familiar with Office. Must have 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing/job shop environment. Education and/ Or Experience Requires an associate degree or two years of college and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience. APICS certification a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities No assigned supervisory responsibilities. Other responsibilities include training employees as needed, directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
