Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a critical link between our engineering and detailing staff and our shop floor production teams. This position is responsible for evaluating constructability, improving production processes, developing standard work documentation, and ensuring that new and existing procedures are executed safely and effectively. The ideal candidate brings a working knowledge of process improvement principles and the ability to quickly develop a practical understanding of construction methods as they apply to modular building production.
Primary Responsibilities
· Act as the primary liaison between the detailing/engineering team and shop floor personnel, facilitating clear communication and mutual understanding across disciplines
· Review fabrication and construction drawings for constructability, sequence logic, and potential production risks prior to release to the floor
· Identify, develop, and implement process improvements appropriate to a construction-adjacent manufacturing environment
· Create and maintain standard work procedures, assembly sequences, and best practice documentation
· Assess risk in new or unfamiliar assembly procedures and provide structured guidance to production staff
· Support training and knowledge transfer across teams with varying levels of construction and manufacturing experience
· Collaborate with engineering and production leadership on new product feasibility and production planning
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered
· Working knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies, with the ability to apply principles pragmatically to a non-traditional manufacturing environment
· Ability to read and interpret construction and fabrication drawings
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across technical and trades-based teams
· Analytical and detail-oriented, with a practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in residential or light commercial construction
· Familiarity with modular, panelized, or prefabricated building systems
· Experience with structural steel or light gauge metal framing
