Job Description

A Shipping and Receiving Lead is a supervisor role responsible for the efficient and accurate movement of goods in and out of a facility.

Specific expectations of a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor may include but not limited to:

Job Description:

  • Leads by example, training all team members in every facet of the shop and directing daily team efforts to meet production requirements and customer needs.
  • Enforces safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Reviews daily production loading requirements to include haul capacity and limitations due to weight, length, trailer type, etc.
  • Reviews daily production requirements for pallet shipments (hardware, building supplies, etc.)
  • Inspects and ensures accurate packaging, loading, and documentation of jobs.
  • Ensures materials are received accurately and works with carriers and purchasing to resolve issues such as damaged or missing materials.
  • Communicates with engineering and other departments to resolve discrepancies with work orders or material requirements.
  • Manages inventory storage and accuracy and meets FIFO requirements.
  • Performs cycle counts and inventory checks as required.
  • Uses our ERP system and other production software to complete work orders and receive, issue, and manage inventory as needed.
  • Maintains equipment and requests maintenance support as required.
  • Assists in loading trucks as needed.
  • Must be physically capable of completing all duties as required, to include other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous shipping, receiving, forklift, and warehouse management experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Self-driven with a high motor
  • Computer literacy: able to learn production software and word processing apps.
