Job Summary

The Truck Driver for Arning Companies will be dependable, safety-focused and support our manufacturing and construction operations by transporting raw materials, finished products, equipment, and other materials to customers and job sites. This position plays an important role in keeping production and projects moving by ensuring shipments are delivered safely, securely, and on schedule.

The Truck Driver takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, works independently, and represents Arning Companies professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and job site personnel.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company trucks and trailers to transport raw materials, finished goods, equipment, and other materials.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns or safety issues promptly.
  • Properly load, unload, secure, and inspect shipments to ensure materials arrive safely and without damage.
  • Physically secure shipments using straps, chains, binders, tarps, and other load-securing equipment as required.
  • Ensure all cargo is properly balanced, secured, and compliant with applicable DOT regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Follow assigned delivery schedules, routes, and timelines while communicating delays or unexpected issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other required transportation records.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, dispatch, and internal team members regarding deliveries and shipment requirements.
  • Work independently while demonstrating accountability, reliability, and good time management.
  • Maintain a clean and professional company vehicle and follow all company policies and safety procedures.
  • Adapt to changing delivery schedules, routes, and transportation needs based on business demands.

Required Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate for the assigned vehicle and operation.
  • Clean and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to meet applicable DOT physical and medical certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and safe driving practices.
  • Ability to safely load, unload, and secure shipments using straps, chains, binders, tarps, and other equipment.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including throwing tarps, pulling straps, tightening binders, and handling chains.
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with securing and delivering materials.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet scheduled delivery commitments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and identify and communicate problems as they arise.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous truck driving experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.
  • Experience hauling steel, structural components, sheet metal, canopies, or other oversized or specialty materials.
  • Experience operating flatbed trailers and securing various types of freight.
  • Knowledge of load securement practices, including the use of chains, binders, straps, and tarps.
  • Familiarity with DOT inspections, transportation documentation, and delivery procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance and the ability to recognize potential mechanical issues.
  • Experience navigating customer facilities, manufacturing locations, and active construction job sites.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment, if applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely climb onto and off trucks and trailers.
  • Ability to throw and position tarps over loads when required.
  • Ability to pull, tighten, and secure straps, chains, and load binders.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
