About the Role
Ben Bellucci Academy is looking for an athletic, high-energy After-School Basketball Instructor to lead our youth programs at these two key Anne Arundel County sites. We need a "hoops" specialist who can teach the fundamentals of the game to elementary students (Grades K-5) while making every session the highlight of their day.
This role is ideal for local coaches, student-athletes, or mentors living in the Glen Burnie or Annapolis areas who want to share their passion for basketball.
Key Responsibilities
Fundamental Instruction: Teach essential skills: proper shooting form, ball handling/dribbling, passing, and basic defensive stance.
Drill Leadership: Facilitate high-energy, station-based drills that keep 15–20 students active and engaged.
Game Management: Organize and referee small-sided scrimmages (3-on-3 or 4-on-4) focused on teamwork and sportsmanship.
Mentorship: Be a positive leader who encourages effort and discipline on and off the court.
Site Logistics: Manage student transitions from the classroom to the gym. Ensure proper check-in/out and coordinate with school staff.
Equipment: Handle setup and breakdown of portable hoops (if needed), balls, and cones.
Qualifications
Experience working with children (coaching, camp counselor, or PE background).
Solid knowledge of basketball rules and fundamental skill progressions.
Ability to command a group of 15–20 children with positive energy and authority.
Reliable transportation to travel between Glen Burnie and Annapolis.
Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive fingerprinting and background check meeting Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) vendor standards.
CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
Schedule & Pay
Hours: After-school hours, typically ranging from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Commitment: 1–3 days per week (flexible based on your availability at these specific sites).
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour based on coaching experience.
