BBA Afterschool Inc. is hiring enthusiastic and dependable After-School Chess Instructors to lead engaging chess enrichment programs for elementary-aged students at Oak View Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD.
Whether you're an experienced chess player, tournament competitor, coach, teacher, or simply enjoy teaching strategy and critical thinking to children, we'd love to hear from you.
Position Details
- Part-time, after-school position
- Monday through Friday
- Between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- 1.5-hour sessions
- $37.50 per session ($25 per hour)
- No weekends
- No lesson planning required
- Curriculum and chess materials provided

Responsibilities
- Teach chess fundamentals and strategy
- Follow BBA's structured curriculum
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment
- Supervise groups of approximately 15–25 students
- Encourage critical thinking, patience, and sportsmanship
- Communicate professionally with school staff and BBA leadership
Qualifications
- Chess experience is preferred but not required
- Experience working with children is a plus
- Comfortable working with grades K–5
- Reliable transportation to Oak View Elementary School
- Dependable and punctual
- Must successfully complete the required Montgomery County Public Schools background check and fingerprinting process
