K–1 Reading & Math Tutor (After School) – Silver Spring, MD

BBA Afterschool Inc. is hiring a patient, enthusiastic, and dependable K–1 Reading & Math Tutor to provide engaging academic support for young students in Silver Spring, MD.

This position focuses on helping Kindergarten and 1st-grade students strengthen their foundational reading and math skills through fun, age-appropriate activities and individualized support.

Position Details

• Part-time, after-school position

• Afternoon after-school hours

• 1.5-hour sessions

• $37.50 per session ($25 per hour)

• Monday through Friday

• No weekends

• No lesson planning required

• Curriculum and materials provided

• In-person position in Silver Spring

Program Focus

The tutor will help K–1 students develop essential early academic skills, including:

Reading

• Letter and sound recognition

• Phonics and decoding

• Sight words

• Vocabulary development

• Reading fluency

• Basic reading comprehension

• Early writing and language skills

Math

• Number recognition and counting

• Number sense

• Addition and subtraction

• Basic patterns

• Shapes and measurement

• Comparing numbers and quantities

• Age-appropriate problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging reading and math instruction to K–1 students

• Teach foundational concepts using age-appropriate activities

• Provide individualized support based on student needs

• Encourage confidence and a positive attitude toward learning

• Follow BBA's structured curriculum and activities

• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

• Communicate professionally with school staff and BBA leadership
