Mechanical Inspector

Job Description

Job Summary:

The In-Process Inspector inspects parts at various stages of manufacture and monitors compliance to Quality and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Mechanically and visually inspect parts according to customer requirements.
  • Inspects workmanship
  • Follow up with print clarification, IP form updates, router, print and MR sheet notes
  • Train shop floor employees and help set them up with the proper QC methods for each job
  • Train shop floor employees on the best mechanical inspection methods and ensure the correct tools are available for each job
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain equipment used
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and communicating effectively with co-workers and management
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge of various measuring devices such as calipers, outside micrometers, pitch mics, bore gages, pin gages, thread gages, test indicator, comparator and microscope.

  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y 14.5
  • Familiar with ISO-9001-2015

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Regularly reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Required close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Specific technical or vocational training preferred
  • Minimum 5 years related experience, preferably with a machining background along with in-process inspection experience
  • Knowledge of technical drawing interpretation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work accurately and thoroughly
