Dirt Merchant is seeking a Hydro Vac / Vac Truck Operator to join our fast-paced and hardworking utility team for the upcoming construction season.

· Have general insight of outdoor construction in various environments

· Valid driver’s license required

· Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred or willingness to obtain

· Experience operating hydro excavation equipment, vacuum trucks, or heavy equipment is a plus

· Strong attention to safety of self and others at all times

· Excellent attendance and reliability

· Willingness to listen, learn, and communicate with others

· Treat equipment, tools, and peers with respect at all times

· Must have the ability to pass a physical exam and drug test

In this position you are part of a team that consists of a foreman, equipment operators and general construction workers. Hydro Vac Operators support our underground utility crews by operating a hydro excavation truck to safely expose underground utilities using high-pressure water and vacuum systems.

Daily responsibilities may include daylighting and potholing utilities, assisting crews during underground utility installation, transporting and operating the hydro vac truck at job sites, performing daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment, and working alongside crews to safely and efficiently complete excavation tasks while following OSHA and company safety standards.

This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and supporting the crew wherever needed on the job site.
