Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, frac pumps, and related mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine design, pump systems, mechanical engineering principles, and equipment performance, with hands-on experience developing reliable and high-performance mechanical solutions.

This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to develop innovative designs that meet performance, safety, quality, and industry compliance requirements.

Important Requirement: Direct experience designing mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, frac pumps, or closely related pumping equipment is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical equipment, pump systems, and associated components.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and design layouts using CAD software.
  • Perform stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) to assess component strength, durability, and reliability.
  • Conduct tolerance analyses and review engineering drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Research, select, and specify purchased components based on performance, compatibility, quality, and cost.
  • Develop test plans and conduct design validation to verify component and system performance.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting engineering calculations, design analyses, testing procedures, and results.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and hydraulic schematics to support equipment design and system integration.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams throughout product design, development, and production.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and industry specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, manufacturability, and overall product performance.
  • Stay current with emerging engineering technologies, materials, and design methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design engineering experience; 5 or more years preferred.
  • Demonstrated pump design experience involving mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, frac pumps, or closely related equipment.
  • Strong background in machine design and mechanical system development.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks.
  • Experience using FEA tools such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing equipment for the oil and gas industry, oilfield services, or industrial pumping applications.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, including their design, integration, and implementation.
  • Familiarity with API specifications, particularly API 6A, API 7K, and API 8C.
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified or API Q1-certified manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience with mechanical systems, fabrication, or welding.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a technically skilled mechanical engineer with direct pump design experience, strong machine design capabilities, and a practical understanding of manufacturing and equipment performance. They should be comfortable taking designs from concept through testing and production while collaborating across teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
