We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support electrical installations, repairs, troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance services across multiple project types.


Position Summary

The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for performing electrical work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and company standards. This position requires hands-on electrical experience, strong troubleshooting ability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew under the direction of a Lead Electrician, Master Electrician, or Project Manager.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of delivering quality electrical work in occupied residential, commercial, and facility environments.


Key Responsibilities

The Journeyman Electrician will:

  • Perform electrical installations, repairs, replacements, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Install and service conduit, wiring, lighting, switches, receptacles, panels, breakers, disconnects, transformers, and related electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, work orders, and job instructions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and identify safe, practical repair solutions.
  • Assist with service calls, tenant improvements, facility repairs, remodels, upgrades, and project installations.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Support permit and inspection requirements as directed by the Lead or Master Electrician.
  • Identify material needs, equipment needs, safety concerns, and potential change order conditions.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, building engineers, inspectors, property managers, and clients when required.
  • Complete accurate field documentation, including service notes, photos, material lists, labor hours, and completion reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Use company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials responsibly.
  • Represent Hyp-tro Pro professionally in all field and client interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Journeyman Electrician License preferred or required based on project jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of electrical field experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and facility electrical systems.
  • Ability to install conduit, pull wire, terminate devices, troubleshoot circuits, and complete electrical repairs.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, work orders, specifications, and basic code requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background checks where required for government, school, commercial, or secured facilities.
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with commercial buildings, government contracts, multifamily properties, schools, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience with lighting retrofits, panel upgrades, service repairs, tenant build-outs, EV chargers, or generators.
  • Low-voltage, fire alarm, security, access control, or data cabling experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with mobile work orders, service software, digital reporting, and photo documentation.

Work Environment

This position may require work in residential properties, commercial buildings, electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, construction sites, government facilities, rooftops, and occupied client spaces. The Journeyman Electrician must be able to lift materials, climb ladders, use hand and power tools, work in tight spaces, and follow all jobsite safety requirements.


Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience, licensing, availability, and project requirements. Hyp-tro Pro may offer full-time, part-time, subcontractor, or project-based opportunities depending on company needs and candidate qualifications.
