Position Overview
Light Environmental is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Remote Payroll Assistant to support the company’s payroll operations and maintain accurate employee compensation records. The Payroll Assistant will assist with payroll processing, timekeeping, employee records, payroll inquiries, and related administrative tasks while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing weekly, biweekly, or monthly payroll.
- Review employee timekeeping and attendance records for accuracy.
- Enter and maintain payroll data in payroll and accounting systems.
- Verify hours worked, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Assist with employee onboarding and payroll setup.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, time records, and payroll procedures.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
- Prepare payroll reports and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Accounting regarding payroll-related matters.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and other payroll documentation.
- Follow company policies and applicable payroll regulations.
- Perform general administrative and data-entry duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive employee information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to learn and navigate payroll, HR, and accounting software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with payroll processing or timekeeping systems.
- Familiarity with payroll deductions, overtime calculations, and employee classifications.
- Basic understanding of payroll taxes and employment-related regulations.
- Strong data-entry and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
