Job Description

Pawnee County Memorial Hospital has a position available for a full-time Hospitalist. This position provides direct patient care and coordinating collaborative patient care during assigned shifts for acutely ill patients, including those patients of high acuity and those who are critically ill and will always work as an advocate of the PCMH/RHC with the goal to serve patients. As a member of the health care team, the Hospitalist will play an integral role in the global management of in-patients and out-patients, including all aspects of care in the hospital setting. This includes assisting the primary care physician in complex procedures. Our small-town atmosphere offers a professional environment in a critical access facility. Job Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Two (2) years of advanced practice experience in an acute care setting preferred. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required.

OR

  • Graduate degree from a Physician’s Assistant program required. Current licensure as a Physician Assistant required. Completion of PCMH credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment. Two (2) years of advanced practice experience in an acute care setting preferred. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required.

OR

  • Board certified/board eligible who are internal medicine (IM) trained and/or family medicine (FM) trained with extensive training or practice experience with a comfort level of hospital/emergency room setting. Doctorate degree from an accredited medical school required.

AND

  • Current license in Nebraska
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Work as a member of a healthcare team

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services.
  • Establishes and documents the health care plan and prognosis, maintaining records of each case that are sufficiently complete for any physician reviewing them to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan.
  • Initiates drug therapy, taking responsibility for such therapy when performed prior to consultation with a physician.
  • Determines when a patient has recovered from a disorder and releases the patient.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff, management, and other health care providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
  • Determines when a patient has recovered and carries out the discharge process.
  • Maintains and performs all patient related documentation in a timely, factual, and legible manner.
  • Performs Emergency treatment as required.
  • Promotes and ensures patient safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
  • Assumes accountability for continual development of self and colleagues as professional practitioners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
