The District
The Freeport School District is a network of 8 schools and serves as a vibrant hub of learning nestled within the heart of Freeport. Compensation & Position Details:
Salary Range | $192,000 – 250,000 Commensurate with experience, per the Freeport Administrators Association collective bargaining agreement. Competitive Nassau County compensation package. |

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:
ü Valid New York State administrative certification (SDL or SDA)
ü Master’s degree or higher in education, educational leadership, or a closely related field
ü Minimum of five (5) years of K-12 classroom teaching or relevant experience
ü Minimum of three (3) years of district personnel experience and/or leadership
ü Deep knowledge of Federal and NYS Labor Law, APPR, Civil Service Law, Tenure laws and Commissioner’s Regulations related to the school personnel function
ü Experience working with diverse student populations, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities
ü Deep knowledge of NYS standards, assessments, and K-12 graduation requirements
The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:
● Ability to exercise the highest level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive personnel matters, maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and ethical standards.
● Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in and contribute to the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the district, including preparing proposals, analyzing contract language, and collaborating with leadership to support fair, compliant, and strategic outcomes.
● Strong understanding for developing and maintaining a department budget and grants
● Proven success in building a shared vision by working cooperatively with colleagues and the school community
● Strong skills to develop and maintain a system for personnel records for all employees
● Knowledge in the determination of types of personnel needed by the schools and make appropriate recommendations
● Proven ability to facilitate and lead professional development for staff
● Excellent multi-tasking, delegation, interpersonal and communication skills
● Strong skills and knowledge in the supervision and evaluation of staff
● Knowledge in coordinating staff selection process and counseling employees to resolve complaints and other matters related to personnel management
● Ability to participate in the collective bargaining process for the district and administer the provisions of various contracts and salary schedules for all District employees working under negotiated contracts
● Competency for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations of the district
● Proven ability to oversee the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of instructional & non-instructional personnel
● Ability to promote equity, inclusion, and fairness in HR practices
● Competency to proactively identify HR Management needs and ability to develop and implement strategies for addressing and resolving needs
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are not required but will strengthen a candidate’s application:
· Doctoral degree in education or educational leadership
· District leadership experience in a K-12 system with an enrollment similar or larger than that of FPS.
· Familiarity with Infinite Campus or a comparable Student Information System
· Prior experience in a demographically comparable urban or suburban school district
· Senior administrative experience in a NYS public school district.
