Job Summary
Perform diagnostic imaging procedures on patients of all ages, contributing to the efficient workflow of the department while maintaining high standards of patient care and imaging quality. The primary responsibility is conducting MRI examinations, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff while operating this modality. Additional duties may include performing radiologic procedures such as X-rays, and CT scans as assigned based on appropriate training and competency.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic exams by evaluating appropriateness of orders based on patient's clinical sign and symptoms.
- Apply clinical expertise to adjust scan sequences when necessary to enhance image quality.
- Select appropriate positioning, imaging sequences, and scan parameters for each exam, and review images to ensure clarity, completeness, and diagnostic accuracy.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors by strictly following MRI safety protocols, screening procedures, and infection control standards.
- Prepare patients for MRI scans by explaining procedures, addressing any concerns, and screening for contraindications.
- Access patient condition while prioritizing safety to ensure optimum care and high-quality imaging.
- Demonstrate compassion and sensitivity when working with a diverse patient population, addressing individual needs and involving patients, family members, or interpreters as necessary.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maximizes the use of equipment and supplies to support efficient operations.
- Stocks work area and may assist with ordering and inventorying management of general supplies.
- Assist with managing patient scheduling and providing prep instructions for studies.
- Departmental tasks such as completing records and reports, coordinating image referrals to outside facilities, insurance verification, entering data, and supporting other office duties as needed.
Working Conditions
- Works in a band new clean efficient environment.
- Brand new MRI unit to bring a new imaging modality to the community of Petersburg.
- The position is full time with benefits, day shift, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with a rotating on call schedule.
Qualifications
Education. Associate degree or experience in lieu of degree.
Licenses or Certifications.
- ARRT or ARMRIT Certification
- Current Basic Life Support 9BLS)
Requirements for Employment --
- Background Check. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation conducted through the State of Alaska in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Drug Screening. All employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana.
- Immunization Compliance. Employees are required to meet all immunization requirements as mandated by the State of Alaska and Federal regulations governing healthcare facilities.
