Riverdale City is seeking a skilled, innovative, and service-oriented IT & Digital Media Technician to support both the City's technology infrastructure and public communications efforts. This unique position combines hands-on technical support, systems administration assistance, digital engagement, website management, and public information dissemination.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping both internal users and the community stay informed and connected.


Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Business Administrator, the IT & Digital Media Technician performs a variety of technical, administrative, and creative duties related to information technology, digital communications, website management, and public outreach.

This position serves as a key resource for maintaining the City's digital presence while providing frontline technical support to City employees and assisting with daily IT operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Media & Communications

  • Develop, maintain, and update the City's website and social media platforms.
  • Create and publish engaging digital content and community communications.
  • Gather, write, edit, and prepare content for the City newsletter and other special publications.
  • Coordinate public information efforts regarding city projects and services.
  • Serve as the City's liaison for communicating construction projects, road closures, utility interruptions, and other public-impact projects.
  • Assist in maintaining a consistent and professional City brand across print and digital media platforms.

Information Technology Support

  • Provide first-level technical support to City staff by identifying, prioritizing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within designated software programs and systems.
  • Support daily IT operations and help ensure reliable system performance.
  • Provide technology and software training to end users.
  • Assist with implementing cybersecurity best practices to protect City systems and data.
  • Document support activities and maintain accurate technology inventory and records.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • An Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field; and
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience performing duties related to information technology, technical support, digital communications, or related functions;

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Certifications

Required:

  • CompTIA A+ Certification

Preferred:

  • Certified Network Engineer (CNE)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or equivalent Microsoft certification

Special Requirements

  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing with negative results.

Work Environment

This position combines office-based technical work with occasional field assignments throughout the community. Duties require walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and operating computer equipment. Frequent use of hand and finger dexterity is required. Regular visual focus, verbal communication, and hearing abilities are essential to performing assigned duties.

Occasional exposure to electrical equipment and associated hazards may occur while performing IT support functions. Frequent Local travel within the City is required as part of normal job responsibilities.


Employment Status

This position is a non-appointed position entitled to the protections established under Utah Code 10-3-1105 and due process appeal authority under Utah Code 10-3-1106.

The IT & Digital Media Technician position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
