Emergency Services Domestic Well Mitigation Technician

If so, Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is looking for an Emergency Services Domestic Well Mitigation Technician to join our team!
This position is a hands-on field position that plays a vital role in supporting households experiencing domestic well failures across the San Joaquin Valley. Working under close supervision, you will assist with well-site observations, support water-delivery efforts, and help install and monitor temporary water systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, learning technical skills, and providing compassionate service to communities in need.
Responsibilities
- Conduct basic inspections of domestic well sites to determine impacts related to drought or outages
- Collect and review participant documentation to support service eligibility
- Assess properties for placement of temporary water storage tanks and pump systems
- Perform post-installation and annual inspections of water systems to ensure proper function and maintenance
- Prepare detailed reports following site visits and inspections
- Assist with emergency and non-emergency water deliveries
- Support partner agencies as needed within program guidelines
- Travel extensively throughout SHE’s service area (Kern County to San Joaquin County)
- Use standard electric and non-electric hand tools safely and effectively
Must Haves
- Interest in field-based, hands-on work
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse communities
- Willingness to learn technical skills related to water systems and field operations
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Comfort with driving long distances on a regular basis
- Basic ability to use tools and complete written reports
- Basic understanding of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.
- Moderate to Advanced understanding of domestic well development, operations, and maintenance, and domestic well stewardship.
- Moderate to advanced understanding of hydrology, engineering, land use, and planning
- Ability to communicate complicated technical information orally and in writing
