Brief Duties and Responsibilities: Position provides support, guidance and coordination for the human resource activities and functions of Walla Walla County offices and departments. Duties require knowledge and application of County personnel practices and procedures, human resources functions, County benefits, and general human resources/risk management principles and guidelines. Responsible for the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, voluntary health and welfare plans, retirement, and deferred comp plans. Work involves contact with the general public, other public agencies, elected officials and department heads and their employees. The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers. Confidentiality is essential in this position.
Working Environment/Physical Abilities: Work is performed in an office setting. Must be able to lift up to twenty (20) pounds, sit for extended time. Physical abilities required for this position are ones typically related to office operations; manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate personal computers and other office equipment; accessing file cabinets; and sufficient hearing and speech ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two (2) year college degree with emphasis in Human Resources, office administration (or comparable) or certificate in Human Resources, office assistant, executive assistant, or administrative assistant plus two (2) years’ experience in human resources environment; OR four (4) years of progressive experience in human resources or an office administration environment. Risk management experience desirable. Bi-lingual preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully pass a background check and a driving record check. Excellent communication skills and confidentiality are required. Must be bondable.
