Full Charge Bookkeeper / Accountant

Job Description

50 year established Allentown / Bethlehem Manufacturing company seeking a full-time, Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team in order to provide exemplary service to our growing client base.

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized individual who works well independently as well as within a team environment. The candidate should have experience working with standard accounting software. You will be responsible for computing, classifying and recording financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the organization are accurate. The bookkeeper will also perform routine financial calculations and general ledger duties including payroll and may also check the accuracy of calculations performed by other employees.

Primary Responsibilities

Within the limits of delegated responsibility, make day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions
Follow accounting principles, policies, and objectives
Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts
Reconcile and submit business and payroll taxes/licenses
Reconcile bank statements
Reconciles all revenues with the general ledger
Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
Informs management of any deviations from budget
Processes and approves expense reports
Recommend improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures
Pay verified bills for accounts payable
Process weekly and monthly payroll and enter payroll information into the books
Prepare payroll taxes
Prepare financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)
Secondary Responsibilities

Assist with invoicing and maintaining accounts receivable
Assist with budgets and projections
Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills

Very detail-oriented with an exceptional level of accuracy and follow-through and highly organized.
Strong knowledge of US-GAAP
Basic knowledge of US tax system
Experience using standard accounting software is required
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience which includes preparing financial statements
Ability to be very technically savvy and able to coordinate many different tasks
Excellent Word and Excel skills
Ability to properly create journal entries for payroll, benefits, 401k, parking stipend, etc.
AP, AR, GL, balance sheet knowledge is a must
High level of discretion
