Primary Responsibilities: -Review new dies & die packages before design reviews; provide feedback/professional insight on developing design layout -As necessary review/compare part print and/or CAD Model against customer part PDF/model -Review initial die design & design concept before formal design review with lead tool maker -Lead die reviews for new dies & provide support/feedback to toolmakers in changes prior to kickoff/final design decisions are made -Delegate dies/die packages to tool makers & apprentices based on best fit, experience, production needs, & developmental opportunities on individual basis -Assist in leading die builds/projects, delegating work to apprentices, & completing tryouts to prove die performance and part quality/consistency before moving to production -Troubleshooting die tryouts & design changes as needed -Assist in tracking work through subcontracting & scheduling as needed -Tracking die build/die packages physical progress for tool room manager, provide updates as required by urgency or customer preference -Evaluate completed die performance with Tool Room manager to identify elements leading to successes, losses, and possible improvements. Document proven/failed processes, possible improvements for future reference -Assist in developing tool room standards & teaching/leading to maintain process standards -Assist in facilitating tool room & stamping department communication on die build packages, & production expectations -Lead apprentices according to Servant Leadership model & monitoring progress/development -Make recommendations on equipment improvements
-Previous experience as a Tool & Die maker in the metals industry with specific experience in building/troubleshooting progressive metal stamping dies -Previous experience in reviewing die designs, & providing insight to necessary adjustments to design/layout to meet part print specification -Previous experience in leading complete die builds, and multiple die builds when necessary, as well as developing & teaching apprentices -Previous experience in, or comfortability in communication with customers and people from multiple levels within the company
