Job Description

Bay Aging is seeking a full-time Senior Systems Engineer to assist with oversight and implementation of all activities related to IT and telecommunications for the Agency. Reports to the IT Director and has supervisory responsibility for the Desktop Support Technicians. Salary:  $62,273/yr-$70,000/yr.  INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY!


Essential functions

a) Provides first/second level contact and problem resolution for customer issues.
b) Works with Third Party Vendors to remediate AV issues as needed.
c) Provides timely communication on issue status and resolution.
d) Oversees and maintains ticket updates for all reported incidents.
e) Installs, upgrades, supports and troubleshoots Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 on new and existing desktops and laptops.
f) Installs, upgrades, supports and troubleshoots for printers, computer hardware.
h) Performs general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, printers.
i) Performs remedial repairs on Desktops, laptops, printers and any other authorized peripheral equipment.
j) Uses diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity, and workstation hardware/software.

k) Performs other duties as assigned.

DECISION MAKING

Work under general supervision and performs a variety of tasks-some are repetitive (e.g. user support problems, software support), some are not. Inform the IT Director before any major server work which could have a wide impact on the Agency or to get approval for equipment purchases.

KNOWLEDGE

a)      Server Virtualization (VMware)

b)      Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019 and Active Directory (AD)

c)      Implementation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting Domain Name System (DNS)

d)      All facets of Microsoft 365

e)      Microsoft Exchange 2010, 2013, and 2016

f)       All phases of backup and imaging software to include Veritas, Veeam and Synology

       Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) Experience

g)      Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP)

h)      Cisco/FortiGate Firewalls and Routers and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

i)        Wireless Networking, Access Points, and Related Security Configuration Skills

j)        Local Area/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) Connectivity

k)      Network, Mobile Device, and Remote Connectivity and End User Security

l)        Local/Wide Area Networking, and Firewall Security Implementation, Maintenance and Monitoring

m)   Telephony (Landline & VOIP) and Data Communications (Datacom) Experience

n)      Smartphone/Tablet Setup and Troubleshooting Experience

o)      Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11

p)      Microsoft Office 2010, 2013,2016, and 2019

      q)    Managed Services Provider (MSP) implementation, monitoring and ongoing maintenance-includes Microsoft and other third-party security patch deployment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a degree preferably in Information Systems and Technology, Computer Science or Cybersecurity and at least 10 years of experience in IT troubleshooting and implementation. Familiar with a wide variety of IT concepts and practices.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 25lbs, walking and climbing stairs). Occasional independent travel required around the area served by Bay Aging. 80% of the essential functions of the position can be performed remotely with phone and internet access.  Must possess valid driver’s license.

 

FLSA status: This is a full-time exempt position.
