Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facilities. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs to ensure that our facilities are functional. Reliability and self motivation are essential in this job. Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.

Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed

Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs

Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems

Work with a team during renovations and facility expansions

Report to maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress

Maintenance Worker Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position

Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems a plus

Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools

 Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings

Communication and interpersonal skills

General passion for creative problem-solving

 Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.

The Independence House, locally owned by a Registered Nurse, provides specialized assisted living facilities in a small home-like setting. Our facilities specialize in caring for individuals that have been diagnosed with dementia. The staff provides care, support and education to help families cope with the changes that dementia brings to their lives. The Independence Houses also provide palliative care, for those individuals diagnosed with an illness that causes pain or other health concerns. All four communities provide services to maximize comfort and quality of life.
