Job Description Summary: Create new and innovative design concepts for foodservice packaging in support of our customer base and sales staff, and serves as a support role for Operations by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Work with customers and sales people to develop eye-catching, cost-effective and safe packaging for foodservice products. • Draw new and existing structural designs using Artios CAD software. • Review structural designs with all stakeholders to ensure optimal running efficiency. • Train in all aspects of Packaging Design: o Design solutions to customer needs o CAD drawing o Graphic design- including Adobe Illustrator o CAD table operation to make samples • Ability to prepare new specs in our operating environment • Help to modify and maintain existing production specs • Prepare, cut, package, ship and log custom and stock samples. • Maintain the upkeep, cleanliness and inventory of the design lab. • Under general direction and coaching, assists other departments and programs as required. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: To be determined by successful candidate’s experience.
Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with various ERP systems and costing systems are a plus.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business publications, correspondence, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and the general public. Strong interpersonal skills required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Adaptable to deadline constraints. Ability to read a tape measure. Ability to grasp and learn an ERP system.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands, arms and shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
