What We seek
Merit Advisors has an immediate need for a Business Development Director located in Midland, TX. The Business Development Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of regional business development and marketing strategy for new Mineral Management services as well as State and Local Tax Services in the Oil & Gas industry. The role requires a unique combination of strategic thinking and tactical sales execution. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter who is effective in creating and closing opportunities with minimal supervision. The candidate will have a proven record spanning from regional key account management, strategic channel development, and relationships with mineral owners of all sizes, C-suites and accounting/finance departments in the Energy sector.


What Your Day Will Look Like
This is a strategic growth position focused on the Energy sector in the Midland area and requires a thorough understanding of Merit’s service lines and the ability to communicate Merit’s strong value proposition. You will, therefore:
• Identify and develop regional strategic account plans
• Conduct market assessments to determine additional sales channels and strategies
• Articulate value story and service/product positioning to existing and potential clients
• Create incremental demand, opportunities, work with Practice leaders and close client engagements
• Work with marketing partner to determine and execute on local marketing opportunities
• Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company approved databases through our CRM
• Generate meaningful and insightful reports for Company management
• Other duties as required
• Maintains confidentiality of all matters

What You Bring
• Proven relationships with Energy companies, mineral owners, and mineral funds
• Ability to build and foster key relationships
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Compelling communication style, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel
• Read, write, and speak English fluently
