Job Description

Position Title: Shop Foreman

 

Reports To: Service Manager

 

As Shop Foreman, your role is to work in collaboration with the service manager to oversee shop     productivity, organization, and cleanliness.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  Follows all safety precautions and procedures at all times

  Ensures all technicians follow all safety policies and procedures at all times

  Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs.

  Responsible for ensuring that all staff keeps shop clean and organized daily

  Monitors shop supply inventory and orders as needed

  Ensures that tools are organized, accounted for and maintained

  Meets with service manager weekly to review workflow

  Acts as Service Manager in Service Manager’s absence.

  Communicates with customers on technical issues as needed (answer technical questions, obtain approval for additional services needed)

  Advises Service Manager of all customer complaints.

  Promotes customer loyalty and goodwill and protects dealership’s image.

  Helps test customer boats to ensure repairs were performed correctly

  Submit work orders/parts requests to parts manager to obtain customer authorized parts rotate applicable work orders back into queue when parts arrive.

  Assigns jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge.

  Helps supervise the work/repair order from initial order to job completion

  Update system to reflect accurate work order status using status codes and work order comments

  Reports incomplete work orders to service manager

  Follows manufacturer warranty policies and procedures

  Review all recalls, service bulletins and product updates

  Attends training seminars as needed

  Schedule, monitor, and keep records of technician training and certifications

  Coordinate with vendors to schedule sublet work orders and ensure units are in place for sublet work at the appropriate time.

  Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  A high school diploma or equivalent

  Experience in the marine industry (service department experience preferred)

  Solid understanding of marine products, dealership business, and sales process helpful

  Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing

  Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions as well as learn dealership CRM application in use.

  Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven with excellent leadership skills

  Have a valid state driver’s license

  Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, must be able to regularly lift 75 lbs. without assistance, grasping with both hands, pushing and pulling, working around moving machinery, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing.
