Position Overview

The Biomed Equipment Technician will be expected to test, build, repair and diagnose all types of medical & lab devices including, but not limited to, patient monitors, ultrasounds, defibrillators, IV pumps, Anesthesia units, and analyzers. You will aid the sales staff in identifying devices for resell and educating our staff and buyers.


This role requires you to work at a fast pace, efficiently, and make accurate diagnoses of assets.


Our ideal candidate will be trusted to dive right in, using years of experience in Biomed.


This role will report to the Director of Remarketing.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain a variety of medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items.

  • Check, sort, and triage incoming inventory for resale and ensure that it meets sales criteria.

  • Demonstrate basic understanding of clinical equipment, radiological, laboratory and network medical systems.

  • Operates test equipment, such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, safety analyzers, ESU analyzers, defibrillator analyzers, and physiological input simulators.

  • Repair, install, and calibrate general medical equipment.

  • Reset machines and verify user and/or patient data has been securely erased with documentation.

  • Communicate medical equipment status with staff, department representatives and/or equipment users.

  • Serve as technical adviser to sales associates and staff in the safe operation and use of clinical equipment.

  • Must be able to use all electronic hand tools and test equipment.

  • Practices and adheres to all current safety regulations and policies regarding servicing of diagnostic/ therapeutic medical equipment and all other safety practices.




Education & Requirements

  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, military or equivalent training and experience Required

  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician Preferred

  • 3+ years of healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance in a hospital/medical center Biomedical Engineering department or certified repair facility.
