Social Media Specialist
Position: 1 full-time position
Duties: Develops social media content for all SCAN’s social media channels – Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and YouTube and creates and promotes profiles in LinkedIn and newer social media sites. Creates and implements social media content and campaigns with the goal of enriching SCAN’s communications with clients, volunteers, and stakeholders, including social media followers, media outlets and the general public. Maintains strong relationships with key individuals throughout the organization to develop this content. Develops and coordinates publicity campaigns and public relation events and will collaborate closely with the IT Department and program directors to ensure a seamless communication strategy across the agency’s website and social media platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Excellent computer skills and outstanding proficiency in the use of social media.
• Excellent writing and oral skills.
• Reliable transportation, proof of insurance and valid driver’s license.
• Able to work flexible hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing or related field.
• Prior experience in implementing social media campaigns practices preferred.

Serving Children and Adults in Need (SCAN) was officially formed in 1982 as Stop Child Abuse and Neglect in Laredo, Texas. Today, SCAN is a community-based, nonprofit social services organization with a 39-year history of providing a variety of comprehensive and culturally sensitive services to a population that is almost 95% Hispanic and which resides along the Texas-Mexico Border in Southwest Texas. SCAN programs provide diverse prevention, intervention, and treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
