Job Description

Prepare and serve meals for patients/residents, visitors and employees.

Job Duties:
  • Checks certified menu for the day and confers with the Dietary Manager / Registered Dietitian as necessary
  • Proceed in the preparation of hot food menu items for meals
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean, washing and storing his/her own pots and pans
  • Makes certain all menu items are well supplied on the steam table throughout the serving time
  • Serves regular/therapeutic food on main plate
  • Responsible for documentation of temperature controls for food and refrigerator/freezer
  • Assists as needed to ensure all menu items, clean up, etc… is complete
  • Completes additional responsibilities assigned by manager

  • Proceeds in the preparation of cold food menu items for meals
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean, unloading carts, scraping trays and washing dishes
  • Stores and stacks clean dishes
  • Checks the certified menu with the Dietary Manager / Registered Dietitian for the following day.
  • Prepares resident trays with condiments and cold food items (such as: salads, desserts, etc…)
  • Checks completed tray for accuracy of prescribed diet
  • Serves employees trays as needed
  • Fills orders from floor for nourishments
  • Responsible for documentation of temperature controls and recording diet changes
  • Assists Dietary Cook as needed to ensure all menu items, clean up, etc……… is complete
  • Completes additional responsibilities assigned by manager

Education:
High school diploma or GED highly desired.

Training/Experience:
Prior food service experience highly desired.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Ability to assume different levels of responsibility
  • Initiative involved in maintaining kitchen area in clean and orderly condition
  • Works under general supervision performing required tasks
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other personnel
  • Should possess age specific skills as needed for communication with the resident population
  • Previous dietary experience is desirable
  • Receives on-the-job training under close supervision
  • Must have knowledge of various tasks performed in the kitchen
  • Interacts with employees, patients/residents and visitors as well as sales representatives, surveyors, consultants and inspectors
