Supports patients by providing balanced and nutritious meals.
Job Duties:
Plan and direct the day-to-day operations of the Dietary Department
Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and the overall presentation of food
Comply with health and food safety standards and regulations
Inventory and order food, beverage, equipment, and supplies
Monitor the actions of employees to ensure everyone's personal safety
Schedule staff hours and assign duties
Participate in the selection of employees and in the formation of pertinent policies and procedures
Responsible for the orientation, training, and general supervision of Dietary Services employees
Ensure employees comply with health and food safety standards and regulations
Hold quarterly staff meetings for Dietary Services employees
Plan general menus and therapeutic diets with the Dietary Consultant
Maintenance of quality control and sanitary practices in the handling and serving of food
Documentation of temperature controls and daily reports
Providing patient and / or family a copy of the prescribed diet
Recording the dietary histories of the patients with food allergies or those unable to accept a limited diet regimen
Promote good interdepartmental relationships of Dietary Services employees and with other services throughout the facility
Skills/Qualifications:
Must have High School education or GED, Previous experience in food service supervision is desirable, Competent in age specific matters related to food service, Proficient in the proper care and operations of the equipment in Dietary Services, Possess a current ServSafe Certification or obtain within 6 months of hire
