Salary Range: $77,263.51 - $113,569.86 annually; Starting Salary DOQ, DOE

Brief Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, manages and directs the annual work program for the Fleet Services (ER&R) Division with more than 250 vehicles and other pieces of heavy construction equipment. Plans and administers the fleet operations budget in excess of $2.5 million annually. Coordinates with other divisions, Department Heads, Elected Officials and outside agencies to right size fleets and minimize operational costs. Sets equipment rental rates, manages parts inventory and oversees new equipment purchases. Provides guidance and assistance in the development and implementation of the County Maintenance Management program. Receives and resolves issues with the public, other governmental agencies, and contractors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, six (6) mechanics and other service and parts personnel in the County shop facility. Oversees work of outside equipment vendors in the repair and replacement of County equipment. Serves as the primary advisor to all County Department Heads and Elected Officials on fleet management operations and equipment rental rates.
Working Environment/Physical Abilities: This position involves both office and field work. Must possess the physical ability to perform field work involving bending, lifting and twisting, and sitting or standing for extended time to perform essential job duties. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions. Must also possess physical abilities typically related to office operations including manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computers and other office equipment, and sufficient hearing and speech ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Frequently lifts up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally more.
Minimum Qualifications: Education And Experience: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in public administration, business, Automotive/Diesel repair or related field; and five (5) years of progressive experience in the administration, performance, and supervision of fleet maintenance and inventory management; OR a combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability, in the opinion of management, required by the position. A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Licenses And Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must successfully pass a background check and a driving record check. Must possess or obtain a valid Basic First Aid/CPR certification within one (1) year of employment. Desired qualifications include: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) or Certified Equipment Manager (CEM).
